1. SCOPE
1.1. Content
This specification covers per formance, tests and quality requirements for AMP* high densi ty
i nterconnect connector. These are box type r eceptacle and pin 2 piece connectors whi ch provide a
connection method on .100 inch centerli ne. Connectors are avai labl e in 2, 3 and 4 row confi guration.
1.2. Qualification
When tests are performed on subject pr oduct line, procedures specified in AMP 109 series
speci fications shall be used unl ess otherwise specif ied. All inspecti ons shall be performed using
appl icabl e inspection plan and product drawing.
2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS
The follow ing documents form a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. Unless otherwi se
speci fied, latest edition of the document applies. In the event of conflict betw een requirements of this
speci fication and product drawi ng, product drawing shall take precedence. In the event of conflict
between requirements of t his speci fication and referenced documents, this specification shall take
precedence.

3. REQUIREMENTS
3.1. Design and Construction
Connector s shall be of design, construction and physical di mensions specified on appl icable product
drawing.
3.2. Materials
A. Terminal:
(1) Receptacle: Beryllium copper or copper nickel silicon|(2) Pin: Phosphor bronze or brass
B. Housi ng: Thermopl astic, glass filled, UL 94V-0

3.3. Ratings
A. Curr ent: 3 amperes maximum per contact, 2.25 amperes continuous per contact at room ambient,
with not more than 2 adjacent or opposing ci rcuits carrying this current.
B. Operat ing Temperat ure: -65 to 125° C for gold contacts
3.4. Perf ormance and Test Description
Connector s shall be designed to meet electrical, mechanical and environmental performance
requirements speci fied in Figur e 1.

4. QUALIT Y ASSURANCE PROVISIO NS
4.1. Qualification T esting
A. Sample Selection
Connector housings and contacts shall be prepared in accordance with applicable Instruction
Sheets and shall be selected at r andom from current production. Test groups 1, 2 and 3 shall each
consi st of 3 connectors of the greatest number of positi on of each type offered. Two additional
speci mens shall be selected fr om least number of positions offered and test ed with group 2. Test
group 4 shall consist of 20 cont acts.
B. Test Sequence
Qual ification inspection shall be verified by testing samples as specified in Figure 1.
C. Acceptance
(1) All samples tested in accordance wi th this specification shall meet the stated tolerance limit.
(2) Failures attributed to equipment, t est setup, or operator deficiencies shall not disqualify the
product . When product failure occurs, corrective action shall be taken and samples
resubmi tted for qualification.
4.2. Quality Conformance Inspection
Applicable AMP inspection plan will specify sampling acceptable qual ity level to be used. Dimensional
and funct ional requirements shall be in accordance w ith applicable product drawing and this
specification.
